What a Copper Fence Post Cap Brought to Our Yard

Two years ago we moved into one of those cookie cutter neighborhoods where all the houses look somewhat the same along the yards, fences and decks. My wife actually parked in the neighbor’s driveway on evening after a long day at work only to realize that our house was next door! So we set out to find a way to differentiate our yard from the rest and wanted to do it in a very classy way. That’s when we found the copper fence post cap.

We placed the copper caps on the fence posts and loved them so much we got some more for the deck posts in the backyard. There just is nothing like copper to set your yard apart from the rest of the neighborhood. Then we found a post cap light that we liked that would give us a beacon of sorts and let everyone coming to our house know they have found the right place. We replaced the copper caps on the gate posts with the lights and could not be happier with our decisions.

I love post tops. I think they are one of the most inexpensive and easiest ways to finish off the perfect look on a deck or fence. So when we finally put up our fence and deck last spring, my husband told me to choose wisely because he was only going to do this once! So with that in mind, I went out to make my choices and found an incredible array of choices. For the deck post tops copper was the way I went and they have done exactly what I was told they would do. The shine itself is beautiful and we are just seeing the patina start and can’t wait to see how the weather changes these wonderful caps.

For the fence post caps, I went for a simple wood cap that reminds me of the ocean vacations on the East Coast when I was a kid. Even though they are simple they have lovely clean lines. My husband had never put post caps on before and after he did it last year he stated how easy they where to fit right over the post cap! Dare I say I told you so?

Party Pergolas

We are quickly coming into the party season that starts with Halloween and runs through the first of the year. I love parties so I throw quite a few each year and we prefer to be outside on the covered deck and patio. We have an outdoor garden pergola that, though we bought it to primarily use in the spring and summer, has become the center of my outdoor themed decorations throughout the holiday season each year.

When we received the pergola kit, it was remarkably simple to put together and install. It took no time at all to start enjoying it on a daily basis. Because we liked the natural look and feel, we simply sealed it for weather purposes. If you had chosen to paint it instead, it would have been very easy since it came pre-sanded. The pergola quickly became the main focal point in our backyard and has easily transitioned from the beauty of the spring and summer into a great place to hang spooks and goblins through Halloween for the kids and twinkling lights of fun and dancing for the adult Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties.
